Sasin, who also serves as Minister of State Assets, is “being cared for by doctors in hospital," Karol Manys, a spokesman for the ministry, told state news agency PAP.

Manys said last Thursday that Sasin had been infected with the coronavirus.

Among high-profile Polish politicians who have contracted COVID-19 is President Andrzej Duda, who tested positive in October. Duda later said he was in good health.

Sasin, meanwhile, has been in quarantine several times previously, according to the PAP agency.

Poland on Tuesday reported 4,835 new coronavirus infections and 291 more deaths, bringing its total number of cases to 1,443,804 and fatalities to 33,698.
