Polish deputy lower-house speaker, MPs come down with coronavirus

Polish deputy lower-house Speaker Włodzimierz Czarzasty and several other leftist lawmakers have come down with the coronavirus, state news agency PAP has reported.

Those who have tested positive for COVID-19 include Tomasz Trela, deputy head of the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD), and the party’s secretary-general Marcin Kulasek, according to a spokesman.

Also infected is well-known MP Anna-Maria Żukowska and Wiesław Szczepański, a left-wing parliamentarian who heads the Polish lower house's committee on internal affairs and administration, the PAP news agency reported.

Officials said on Tuesday that Polish conservative Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin was in hospital after being infected with COVID-19.
