Of the new cases confirmed on Tuesday, 1,792 were in the central region of Mazowieckie, which includes the national capital Warsaw.
Meanwhile, 1,228 new infections were reported in the southern coal mining region of Silesia.
The western province of Wielkopolskie, which is home to the major city of Poznań, had the third-highest number of new infections confirmed by officials on Tuesday, at 731.
The latest deaths in Poland’s coronavirus outbreak are 32 people with pre-existing medical conditions and 28 who died directly because of COVID-19, the Polish health ministry said.
On Monday, Poland confirmed 64 deaths and 9,902 new coronavirus infections nationwide, compared with 204 deaths and 22,947 fresh cases a day earlier.
Last Thursday, April 1, the Polish health ministry confirmed 35,251 new single-day cases, the most since the pandemic hit the country last March.
Poland’s second-highest number of daily cases was when 35,143 new coronavirus infections were confirmed nationwide on March 26.
On November 25, the country reported its highest daily toll of 674 deaths related to the coronavirus.

33,554 in hospitals, 394,442 quarantined
The health ministry announced on Tuesday morning that 33,554 COVID-19 patients were in hospitals nationwide, 3,315 of them on ventilators, with a further 394,442 people quarantined for possible coronavirus exposure.
Meanwhile, 2,036,577 people have now recovered from COVID-19 throughout the country, including 27,269 over the last 24 hours, the health ministry also said.
