Among the roads flooded was part of the Wisłostrada, a major traffic artery that runs parallel to the Vistula river.

Warsaw’s northern Bielany district was deluged with 37mm of rainfall in just 30 minutes—half the monthly average for June, state news agency PAP reported.

Fierce winds knocked down trees. Warsaw police urged motorists to drive slowly and keep their distance from other vehicles.

The downpours in the capital came after several days of extreme weather across Poland, with scorching temperatures followed by violent storms.
