Poland's Health Ministry has reported 47,749 new coronavirus infections in Poland, and another 272 deaths related to COVID-19. This has brought the total number of fatalities during the pandemic to 106,578. Altogether, since the beginning of the pandemic, the Polish health service recorded 5 129 080 infections with SARS-Cov-2.
Most of the new infections were reported in the central region of Mazovia with capital Warsaw (6536), followed by the southern region of Silesia (6098) and Greater Poland (5460).
So far the biggest number of daily infections was reported in Poland on 27 January - 57,659. The biggest daily death toll - 954 - was reported on 8 April 2021.
Meanwhile over 21.8 million Poles have been vaccinated against COVID-19, and 10.2 million have received the booster shot. The Health Ministry informed that over a thousand certificates have been issued to allow people with compromised immunity to receive the fourth dose of the vaccine.
