Johnson is set to hold talks with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to discuss ways of strengthening the eastern flank of NATO amid Russia's invasion of Poland's eastern neighbour, according to officials.
The aim is to increase the military presence of the alliance in the region as quickly as possible in order to defend it against a potential attack by Russia, Polish government spokesman Piotr Müller told reporters, as quoted by public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency.
Morawiecki and Johnson will also discuss humanitarian aid to Ukraine when they meet in the Polish capital on Tuesday, Müller told Polish Radio ahead of the talks.
The Polish prime minister on Monday warned that Russia's war on Ukraine was causing a growing humanitarian crisis in Eastern Europe.
