Poland admits nearly 1.6 million refugees from Ukraine: officials

Poland has accepted 1.596 million people escaping the Russian attack on Ukraine, the Polish Border Guard agency reported on Saturday.

On Friday, border officials cleared 76,200 people arriving from Ukraine, the agency wrote on Twitter.

A further 17,700 refugees entered Poland from Ukraine by 7am on Saturday morning, the Border Guard added.

Saturday is day seventeen of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24.
