The Polish fire crews were deployed late last week to the region around the southwestern French city of Bordeaux.

"The operation is being carried out also at night, with the officers working 24/7 on a rotational basis," said Karol Kierzkowski, spokesman for Poland’s State Fire Service.

"They are split into two teams, with one resting while the other is on duty, working eight- to 10-hour shifts,” he added.
