Mark Brzezinski’s words came in an interview with the Rzeczpospolita newspaper, published on Friday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Asked about the state of Polish-American relations, the US ambassador said that the friendship between the two countries “dates back more than 200 years” and has never been as close as now.

Brzezinski said that for hundreds of years, Americans have fought for the freedom of Poland, just as Poles have fought for America’s freedom, and cited Polish-American independence heroes Tadeusz Kościuszko and Kazimierz Pulaski.

The US envoy stated, as quoted by Rzeczpospolita: “We live in a time when Poland and the United States share the same freedom. Our common cause is to support the Ukrainian nation.”

Brzezinski stressed that over 10,000 US troops were currently stationed in Poland, “carrying out the mission from US President Joe Biden, shoulder to shoulder with Polish soldiers.”

The US ambassador declared, as cited by Rzeczpospolita: “Every inch of NATO territory, including Poland, is secure and protected.”

Brzezinski added that “Poland and the United States are collaborating in the military sphere as closely as it is possible between allies,” as quoted by Rzeczpospolita.

He stressed that the United States was sharing its “state-of-the-art military equipment” with Poland, providing the Polish army with the Abrams tanks, Apache attack helicopters, F-35 stealth jets and HIMARS rocket artillery launchers, which “shows the level of trust America has for Poland.”

The US ambassador stressed that Polish, American and other NATO troops were prepared “to deter any potential aggressor,” as cited by Rzeczpospolita

On Wednesday, Mark Brzezinski received the Person of the Year award at a prestigious economic conference in the southwestern Polish ski resort of Karpacz.

Friday is day 562 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
