For the first time, the elite Polish forces have also been certified to command a large-scale defense operation, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

During a visit to the southern city of Kraków, where a certification exercise for the NATO Response Force 2024 has come to an end, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said: "The soldiers of the Special Forces in the Polish Armed Forces are a showcase of the Polish military. It's about very strict selection, it's about skills and training. We are proud of your service."

Błaszczak emphasized the role of special forces in both national and NATO security, saying: "This is a service that is extremely necessary to ensure the security of our homeland, but also to ensure the security of the entire North Atlantic Alliance."

He added: "This is our joint achievement, a NATO achievement."

The NATO Response Force is composed of elite units from alliance countries, prepared to respond rapidly to threats.
