Asked if Poland should reinstate military conscription, 44 percent of respondents said "no," state news agency PAP reported.

Meanwhile, 27 percent said that Poland should reintroduce military draft, and a further 13 percent said that both men and women should be subject to conscription.

The remaining 16 percent of respondents said they had no opinion on the issue, the PAP news agency reported.

Political scientist Kazimierz Kik said the results of the survey reflected the "Europeanisation" of attitudes towards conscription among Poles.

The poll was carried out by the Pollster Research Institute for the Super Express daily newspaper.
