Nineteen injured as car drives into crowd in Poland's Szczecin

Nineteen people were injured, after a man drove into two groups of pedestrians in the western Polish city of Szczecin.

The driver first drove into a large group of people and then lost control over the vehicle while trying to flee and collided with three cars. 

Tomasz Kubiak, a spokesman for the Regional Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Szczecin told the media that all those injured, including six teenagers, were taken to hospitals across the city.

According to the police the perpetrator, a 33-year-old resident of Szczecin, was detained soon after the accident.

The police in Szczecin said it was unlikely that the incident was a terror attack.
