"I have decided to resign from the position of Minister of Science and Higher Education," the politician said at a press conference in the Sejm, the lower house of the Polish Parliament.

This situation follows recent questionable actions by the minister, who revealed whistleblower information to university authorities and incorrectly filled out his asset declaration.

Dariusz Wieczorek explained his decision by stating that he wanted to avoid media coverage affecting the development of Polish science and the functioning of the ruling coalition.

During his statement, he mentioned that in recent weeks, he had experienced online harassment, both against himself and his ministry, and added that he would defend his good name.

The Polish media reported on his incomplete asset declaration and the disclosure of a union activist's identity, which was connected to irregularities at the University of Szczecin, where his wife is employed.
