As official ceremonies concluded in Warsaw, Tusk issued a strong reminder on social media, referencing the 3 May 1791 Constitution - Europe’s first modern constitutional document.

Donald Tusk referred to President Andrzej Duda’s final Constitution Day speech, urging citizens to reflect on the presidential oath of office.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Tusk said: “As we listen to President Duda’s final 3 May address, let us remember the meaning of the words: ‘I solemnly swear to remain faithful to the provisions of the Constitution.’ Let us choose a president who will remain true to that oath.”

"The President knew how to celebrate Constitution Day like no one else. And even better, he understood the Constitution itself," the head of the Polish government added in a subsequent post, referring to the repeated violations of Poland's law by Andrzej Duda.

Saturday’s event was attended by President Duda, the speakers of both the Sejm and Senate (the lower and upper houses of the Polish parliament), as well as Deputy Prime Ministers Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Krzysztof Gawkowski.
