As part of the summer timetable adjustment, Polish national passenger railway carrier PKP Intercity will launch as many as 514 trains per day. The Infrastructure Ministry's head reminded that the timetable adjustment announced by PKP Intercity comes into effect on June 15 - and will be valid until August 30 of this year. Dariusz Klimczak pointed out that more trains will head for popular Polish summer holiday destinations in the summer - such as seaside Ustka and Kołobrzeg, or mountains' Zakopane and Szklarska Poręba.

"This year, we are launching as many as 514 connections per day for the summer - 83 more than in 2023 and 2024. We offer some brand new routes - like the Katamaran train from Łódź to Gdynia, or the Sukiennice train from Łódź to Zakopane"

- Minister Klimczak emphasized.

Among the novelties from Łódź, the official also mentioned new routes to seaside locations such as Hel, Ustka, Łeba or Kołobrzeg - as well as to Szklarska Poręba in the mountains. Dariusz Klimczak also mentioned a fast train covering the Warsaw-Bydgoszcz route in 2.5 hours, and the long-awaited direct Intercity Express Pendolino connection from Warsaw to Świnoujście, with a 700 km journey taking 5.5 hours. A possible railway hit of the summer might also be the direct connection from Poland to Croatia, kicking off on June 27.

"PKP Intercity also offers connections to various cultural events, festivals - these are dedicated trains" - the Infrastructure Minister added, also reminding that children on their June 1st holiday can travel on PKP Intercity trains for a symbolic złoty. "To date, we have sold 50,000 such tickets for young travelers" - he added.

Poland's Deputy Minister of Infrastructure responsible for railways, Piotr Malepszak, was also present at the Łódź Fabryczna station conference. He emphasized that after 19 years of the Łódź-Warsaw route modernization, the travel time will now be shortened to a record low: 65 minutes. Importantly, this boost will not be limited to the most exclusive trains only, but the fastest low-cost regional trains will benefit as well.

State-owned PKP Intercity is the largest Polish passenger railway operator, providing train transport between large cities and popular tourist resorts in the country, as well as enabling travel around Europe. PKP Intercity trains carried 78.5 million passengers in 2024, which is 15% more than the previous year and 33% more than in 2022.

The carrier's estimates assume that in 2025 it will increase the number of passengers carried to 88 million, and by 2030 - to 110 million at least.
