The platform, known as testnr.org, was promoted by Law and Justice (PiS) MP Dariusz Matecki and supported by a conservative civic group called the Electoral Oversight Movement. It allowed users to check voting certificate numbers in an effort to prevent multiple voting - despite lacking authorisation from the state electoral commission.
Analysts say the site was hosted by Icelandic provider 1984.is, with its domain registered by a Polish internet firm. A connected page listed the right-wing PiS party as its data administrator, prompting concerns about potential political involvement.
This week, Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that the Internal Security Agency (ABW) had filed a complaint with the Warsaw district prosecutor’s office. The probe will examine whether the platform may have interfered with the election process. Police are also investigating possible personal data violations.
The prosecutor’s office said it had received the complaint but declined to comment further at this stage.
