Polish Deputy Agriculture Minister Michał Kołodziejczak resigned on Wednesday, citing deep disagreements with his superior, Minister Czesław Siekierski, and frustration with what he described as bureaucratic stagnation.

In a strongly worded open letter shared on social media, Kołodziejczak claimed that the ministry had become dominated by administrative inertia, writing, “The only hegemon in the Ministry of Agriculture is bureaucracy, and the lack of vision or a plan surprises no one anymore.”

The politician accused the ministry of moving too slowly on crucial reforms and failing to provide farmers with a coherent response to the sector’s mounting challenges.

“Polish villages are changing rapidly, and we are not meeting that moment,” he wrote.

Kołodziejczak, a 36-year-old farmer and founder of the agro-political movement Agrounia, said he could not continue to support a government line that he believed was out of touch with farmers’ needs.

Minister Siekierski has yet to respond publicly to the resignation.
