Polish soldiers stationed in the Middle East remain safe despite the latest escalation in US-Iran tensions, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said late on Monday, following Iran's missile attack on a US military base in Qatar.

Earlier in the day, Iran’s military launched a missile strike on the Al Udeid US air base in Qatar in retaliation for American air strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, according to reports.

Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on X that there was "no direct threat to the Polish military contingent in Iraq in connection with the attack on the American military base in the Middle East."

"The soldiers remain safe, and their health and lives are not in danger," he said, citing a report by the Operational Commander of the Polish Armed Forces, Gen. Maciej Klisz.

"Ensuring the highest level of protection for Polish soldiers deployed abroad is a top priority," Kosiniak-Kamysz stated.

He added that "the situation in the Middle East is under constant analysis by appropriate structures both on the ground and at home."

The threat level, he said, "is being assessed in close coordination with our allies."

Iran described Monday's strike as "devastating and powerful," but US officials said no American personnel were killed or injured, the Reuters news agency reported.

The missile strike followed US air raids on Sunday, in which American bombers targeted three Iranian nuclear and military facilities, according to officials.

Earlier this month, Israel launched a wave of air strikes on Iran, saying it had targeted nuclear facilities, ballistic missile factories and military commanders in what it called the start of a sustained operation aimed at preventing Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon.
