Crews are currently working to extinguish the remaining pockets of fire.
Karol Kierzkowski, a spokesperson for the State Fire Service, said that firefighters are dismantling parts of the building’s structure. Sixteen fire engines and around 50 firefighters remain at the scene.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Paula Antolak told reporters it was still too early to determine the possible cause of the fire. The first emergency call came in at 19:35 on Sunday evening.
The blaze broke out in a facility covering more than 4,000 square metres, where plastic films and packaging were produced and stored.
At the time the fire started, six workers were inside the hall, but all managed to evacuate safely before the flames spread. The building’s roof collapsed inwards, and the structure has been severely deformed.
Poland’s Government Security Centre issued an alert to residents in the Mińsk County area, urging them to stay away from the site and keep their windows closed.
No injuries have been reported. The company employed around 300 people. Local authorities said assistance for affected workers will be discussed during a crisis meeting scheduled for Monday.
