The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is an annual mathematics competition for high school students. It is the oldest international subject-specific Olympiad. 641 exceptional students from 112 countries took part in this year's edition, held in Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.
The Polish gold medal winners were Stanisław Lada, Magdalena Pudełko, and Jakub Świcar - while Mateusz Wawrzyniak, Michał Wolny, and Antoni Mazur won silver. Polish team was supervised by Dominik Burek and Tomasz Cieśla.
China triumphed at the 2025 edition, ahead of the United States and South Korea. Poland was the highest placed European team, finishing tied for fourth place with Japan. Israel, India, Singapore, Vietnam, Turkey, and Hong Kong. It is Poland's best result since 1973, when just 15 countries took part.
