The minister added that he was still awaiting full reports. On Monday, the fire service responded to nearly 3,000 incidents caused by severe weather linked to a Genoa low-pressure system moving over Poland.
Emergency services were busiest in the southern and southwestern parts of the country, but the situation there is now stable. Attention is currently focused on the northeast and northern regions, including the city of Elbląg.
According to Minister Kierwiński, citing reports from the local fire department, efforts to protect public buildings in Elbląg are ongoing. “The situation is difficult, but under control,” he said.
Conditions remain dangerous in Nowy Dwór Gdański, northern Poland, where water is being continuously pumped out following heavy rainfall, Kierwiński added. He assured that emergency services remain fully prepared, stressing that recent years have shown how unpredictable the weather can be.
