Speaking to TVN24, Bosacki said: “Neither Ukrainians nor Europeans will trust further paper guarantees. Ukraine had - and theoretically still has - such guarantees from Russia, but they were brutally broken by Putin in 2014 and 2022.”
According to the diplomat, “The negotiating positions of Ukraine and Russia - especially Russia - have shifted, if at all, only minimally. The next step, following Friday’s and yesterday’s talks, is another meeting.”
“This is the start of a promising negotiation process,” Bosacki stressed.
The politician added that, despite the U.S. president publicly declaring near-NATO-style guarantees for Ukraine and suggesting the possible deployment of troops along the ceasefire line, Russia and Putin’s circle have still not agreed.
Bosacki also expressed regret that no Polish representative was present at the White House on Monday. He explained that the talks followed the same format as previous meetings between European leaders and President Trump, so “Poland could only be represented by Karol Nawrocki.”
The deputy minister confirmed that Prime Minister Donald Tusk will take part in the online session convened by European Council President António Costa on Tuesday.
