"Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, while ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have been brought to the highest state of readiness," the command said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

The alert came amid a broader wave of Russian drone and missile attacks across Ukraine, including a major strike on the capital, Kyiv. At least eight people were injured in the overnight assault, including a pregnant woman, Ukrainian officials said, as cited by the Reuters News Agency.

In Kyiv's eastern Darnytskyi district, a four-story residential building caught fire after debris from a downed drone fell onto it, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Emergency responders treated the wounded, with the pregnant woman and two others hospitalized.

Fires also broke out in the Sviatoshynskyi district in the west of the city, where drone debris struck a 16-story high-rise and two nine-story buildings, Klitschko added on Telegram.

Further south in Odesa, regional governor Oleh Kiper reported that several apartment buildings and civilian infrastructure were damaged, with fires erupting at multiple sites due to the attacks.
