Nawrocki is scheduled to be welcomed Tuesday morning by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in the courtyard of Bellevue Palace, sign a guest book and hold a one-on-one meeting, followed by plenary talks at 9:30 a.m.
Earlier this month, presidential spokesman Rafał Leśkiewicz said Nawrocki would press Germany on wartime reparations, including the return of cultural property and compensation.
He argued Poland cannot accept outcomes of the 1945 Potsdam peace conference or the August 1953 declaration by communist-era Poland renouncing reparations from East Germany, and urged citing concrete calculations by historians, economists and demographers while seeking legal avenues. He stressed the issue “has never been closed” for Poles.
Later Tuesday, Nawrocki is due at the Chancellery for talks with Chancellor Friedrich Merz, beginning with a one-on-one meeting and followed by a plenary session.
After Berlin, the president and his delegation will travel to Paris, where Macron will formally welcome him at the Élysée Palace before plenary talks and a private meeting between the two leaders.
According to earlier briefings by presidential minister Marcin Przydacz, the agenda will include the EU’s proposed agreement with Mercosur countries.
