Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said on Sunday that Iran should not have sold drones and licenses for their production to Russia during its aggression against Ukraine.

His remark came after Iran’s foreign ministry summoned Poland’s chargé d’affaires, Marcin Wilczek, to protest Sikorski’s appearance at a display in the British parliament.

Sikorski attended the Tuesday presentation organized by U.S.-based activist group United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI), which showcased a Shahed-136 drone used against Ukraine and pointed to Tehran’s role in supporting Moscow’s military campaign.

Speaking at the London event, Sikorski also cited Russia’s aggressive policy and said Britain had become a victim of hybrid warfare waged by President Vladimir Putin against NATO.

Following the summons, Polish foreign ministry spokesperson Maciej Wewiór said the meeting in Tehran was not “one-way” and that Warsaw underlined drones are a real threat to the Republic of Poland. He said the Iranian side “took note” of the message.

On Sunday, Iran’s foreign minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, posted in Polish on social media, calling the drone exhibited in parliament “falsely and in bad faith attributed to Iran.”

He described the display as a “pathetic scene staged by the Israel lobby and its sponsors,” and said opponents of friendly Iran-Europe ties were crafting fabricated narratives that ignored historical bonds, including with Poland. Araghchi added that Iran remained ready for working-level talks and document exchanges to clarify the facts “in the face of this absurd performance.”

Sikorski replied the same day: “Nice that the Iranian foreign minister writes in Polish, but it would have been better not to sell Russia drones and licenses for their production already during the aggression against Ukraine.”

He also wished the Iranian people that their government focus on rebuilding Persian civilization “instead of exporting the Islamic revolution and enriching uranium.”
