The underground passage began on Belarusian territory and emerged on private land in Poland. It measured about 30 meters (98 feet) long and 1.8 meters (6 feet) high at its tallest point, and is believed to have been in use for roughly 24 hours.

According to Kierwiński, migrants constructed the tunnel, reportedly under the supervision of Belarusian security services.

In an interview with Radio ZET, the minister said Polish border defenses are highly secure, covering around 98% of the frontier, with new measures added each month. Belarusian authorities are reportedly making persistent attempts to bypass these controls, which is no easy task.

This is the second tunnel detected in recent weeks.

Polish border guards first noticed activity thanks to ongoing operational surveillance and monitoring systems, including those installed under the Civic Coalition-led government, which enabled authorities to act quickly.

The head of Poland’s Interior Ministry confirmed that while someone had managed to use the tunnel to cross illegally, authorities had already apprehended the individuals attempting to circumvent the border.

Below is the tunnel recently uncovered by Polish border guards near the village of Kondratki, close to the Belarussian bordrer.
