Commenting on European migration policy, Trump argued that some European leaders, "including in the UK", are "overly sensitive" to the idea that a government should prioritize its own citizens. He contrasted this with countries that, in his view, take stricter approaches to migration.
Trump highlighted Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán as an example, claiming that although "other leaders hate him," Orbán is "doing a fantastic job." Trump asserted that Hungary has admitted "zero" migrants except for some Ukrainians displaced by the ongoing war.
According to Trump, Poland is similarly resistant to accepting migrants. "There are countries that simply refuse," he said.
The U.S. president went on to emphasize the surprise nature of Poland’s recent presidential election outcome, crediting both a mutual acquaintance and his own endorsement as influential. "He had no chance of coming close to winning. He was one of many candidates," Trump said. "But I endorsed him, and he won. It was quite a surprise. He’s fantastic. He’ll be a great president."
The interview marked one of Trump’s strongest recent public endorsements of Polish leadership.
