Polish woman drowns after being swept into ocean in Kenya

A Polish tourist drowned in Kenya after she was swept into the Indian Ocean by a strong wave, authorities said.

The incident occurred on November 14 at Diani Beach, a popular resort area.

The woman had arrived a day earlier with a group of friends for a two-week holiday, officials said.

Her body was recovered and taken to a local mortuary for an autopsy.

Police said they have opened an investigation.

Local beach managers said they are taking steps to improve safety following a recent rise in drowning cases along the Kenyan coast, which has seen an influx of holiday makers in the past week.
