Government spokesman Adam Szłapka said on Wednesday that the talks would focus on Poland’s security and the broader international situation.

His comments came a day after Prime Minister Donald Tusk said he would meet with President Karol Nawrocki following a summit in Paris of the so-called "Coalition of the Willing" supporting Ukraine.

Tusk said the meeting would address the division of responsibilities between the president and the government in efforts to provide Ukraine with security guarantees after a potential ceasefire.

"Poland’s security policy and foreign policy must be unified and strictly coordinated," Szłapka told reporters.

"We should use good relations between institutions in Poland’s interest," he added.

Nawrocki and Tusk come from opposing ends of the political spectrum, with the president allied with the right-wing opposition and the prime minister leading a centrist coalition government.

Marcin Przydacz, the president's foreign policy adviser, said the two leaders were in direct contact and likely to meet on Friday.

"The political and international situation requires direct discussion and coordination between the two highest state officials," Przydacz said.
