Polish presidential spokesman Rafał Leśkiewicz said the meeting would take place in Vilnius during events marking the anniversary of the 1863 January Uprising against Russian rule.

Nawrocki and Zelensky are expected to take part in the commemorations alongside Lithuania’s President Gitanas Nausėda.

Leśkiewicz told private broadcaster Polsat News on Thursday that the three leaders would attend a joint service at Vilnius Cathedral to honour "a shared history, a history of struggle against czarist Russia and now the struggle of Ukrainians against Russia" as "an element that binds us together."

"This historical parallel provides a good platform for talks," Leśkiewicz said, adding that “there will be a moment when President Nawrocki speaks with President Zelensky."

He said that the leaders were meeting "not only for commemorations but also to discuss important political matters."

Asked whether the talks would include possible peace terms for Ukraine, he replied that "the conditions of peace must be defined by the Ukrainians themselves, not imposed on them."

Leśkiewicz told Polsat News that Nawrocki "firmly maintains that peace in Ukraine must be worked out through negotiations," in which Donald Trump is involved, describing the US president as "the global leader who has taken on the burden of bringing about peace in Ukraine."

At the same time, Leśkiewicz said, "the terms and conditions of that peace must above all be accepted by the Ukrainians themselves."

Nawrocki and Zelensky last met during the Ukrainian leader’s visit to Warsaw in December.

At the time, Nawrocki said that "in strategic security matters, Poland, Ukraine and the countries of the region stand together."

The Polish leader had earlier announced the planned meeting with Zelensky during a news conference at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where he met with Trump.

Zelensky also met the US leader in Davos and later said that a trilateral meeting involving diplomats from Ukraine, the United States and Russia would take place in the United Arab Emirates on Friday and Saturday to discuss a peace agreement.

He added that a document outlining US security guarantees for Ukraine was ready, although territorial issues remained unresolved.

Swedish royal couple to visit Poland in March

In his interview with Polsat News, Leśkiewicz also announced that Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia would visit the Polish capital Warsaw and the Baltic port city of Gdańsk between March 10 and 12.

"This will be an excellent moment to talk about bilateral relations between Sweden and Poland," he said, adding that several Swedish government ministers are expected to take part in the visit.

It will be the Swedish monarch’s first visit to Poland since 2011, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
