Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk said the potential deal highlights the growing international recognition of Poland’s defense industry. “We should be proud, because this shows how innovations in Poland’s defense sector influence our perception globally,” Tomczyk said during a press conference in Warsaw.
The Piorun system, designed to target low-flying aircraft, helicopters, and drones, is already used by Norway, Latvia, and Ukraine.
Tomczyk emphasized that the information is not yet official and that discussions are ongoing. “The matter still requires finalization,” he said, noting that the interest from Germany signals a shift in how Poland’s capabilities are viewed abroad.
“Often we hear claims that others want to profit off us,” he added. “Let’s change that mindset—let’s profit from others. The Piorun system is an example of that.”
