Speaking in Brussels, Deputy Defense Minister Paweł Zalewski said Warsaw was ready to invest in the necessary infrastructure.

"Our intention is to increase American military capabilities in Poland and on the eastern flank. The Americans know we are ready for this. They know there is political consensus on the matter in Poland, which is also important, and that American soldiers are welcomed warmly in our country", Zalewski said.

Polish authorities are consulting with local governments, which have already put forward proposals. Zalewski said the initiative to host American troops was grassroots in nature, benefiting not just the country as a whole but also the towns and municipalities involved.

"We are talking not only about the presence of soldiers, but also their families — housing, schools, all the supporting infrastructure. We are really talking about building a small town", he said, adding that such investments were profitable for host communities over the long term.

If the U.S. decides to expand its presence, existing bases — including the military facility at Powidz — are among the sites being discussed.

The talks have gained fresh momentum following Washington's announcement of a partial withdrawal of American troops from Germany. U.S. President Donald Trump has not ruled out relocating some of those forces to Poland.
