The decision follows the removal of Kraków Mayor Aleksander Miszalski in a recall referendum last month, a result widely seen as a political setback for Prime Minister Donald Tusk's camp.
Deputy Speaker of Parliament Dorota Niedziela told the PAP news agency she had been appointed regional commissioner by Tusk to oversee the reorganisation.
Miszalski, a Civic Coalition politician, had also headed the party's Małopolska branch before his dismissal from office, which triggered an early mayoral election.
Niedziela said the move was linked to the upcoming vote in Kraków and the need for effective and engaged party structures ahead of the election.
She said the party's national board would assume the responsibilities of the regional leadership until new authorities are elected.
"I was appointed by the prime minister to put things in order," Niedziela told PAP.
The early mayoral election in Kraków must be held within 90 days of the official announcement of the referendum result.
Until then, the city is being run by commissioner Stanisław Kracik, former deputy mayor.
Neither KO nor the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party has yet announced its candidate for the Kraków mayoral election.
