A total of 24 drowning deaths were reported nationwide over the weekend, according to the Government Centre for Security (RCB).

Since the beginning of June, 55 people have drowned across the country, police data showed.

Officials say alcohol consumption remains one of the leading factors contributing to drownings in Poland.

Many fatalities occur at swimming areas not patrolled by lifeguards.
