Belarusian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday it had summoned Poland's charge d'affaires in Minsk, Krzysztof Ozanna, to warn of a planned attack on Polish territory, according to a statement posted on the ministry's website.
The ministry said the alleged plot involves a person residing in Poland who was convicted in Belarus under several articles of its criminal code and who recently had additional protection and residency rights in Poland revoked by Polish authorities.
According to Belarus, that person is preparing an attack targeting the minor children of a Belarusian activist living in Poland, allegedly in revenge for her insufficient efforts to help the person retain their status in Poland.
Belarus said it was ready to provide further information to relevant Polish services if needed.
Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesman for the minister coordinator of special services, declined to comment directly on the media reports. "I can assure you that Polish services never downplay any worrying signal and approach all information about potential threats with due seriousness and firmness", he told Polish Press Agency (PAP).
He added that it is standard practice for intelligence services worldwide not to disclose, at this stage, whether or what steps they are taking in response to such warnings.
