"The Armed Forces of Ukraine congratulate the Polish Armed Forces, the entire Polish nation, and Poland - on the occasion of Polish Armed Forces Day. (...) Poland commemorates the victory in the 1920 Battle of Warsaw, when the Polish Army - together with units of the Ukrainian People's Republic Army - stopped the Bolshevik invasion and defended freedom. This joint struggle against Moscow's imperialism has been going on for over a hundred years, and today it continues on the Ukrainian front"

- the Ukrainian General Staff wrote on Telegram.

Ukraine's Armed Forces Command also expressed gratitude to the Polish Army and the Republic of Poland for their long-standing, systematic military support since 2014, and especially after February 24, 2022, when the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine began.

Among other things, they highlighted Poland's leadership within the Ramstein format, as well as the training of Ukrainian units and logistical support. According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, such cooperation brings the Ukrainian Army closer to achieving full compatibility with NATO and EU member states.

"We also thank the Polish nation for providing shelter to Ukrainian families - and pay tribute to the memory of Ukrainian citizens of Polish origin and Polish volunteers who fell in the fight for freedom. Glory to Poland! Glory to Ukraine! Together - towards victory!"

- the message concluded.

Another set of wishes was published on X by Ukraine's ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar.

August 15th marks the anniversary of Poland's victorious 1920 Battle of Warsaw in 1920. The Polish military's victory was decisive in preserving the country's independence and halting the advance of the Bolshevik Revolution into Western Europe. The Battle of Warsaw remains one of the most important elements of Polish historical identity.
