The European Council has published Costa’s schedule for next week, confirming earlier unofficial reports by Polish Radio Brussels correspondent Beata Płomecka.
Costa has been travelling to EU capitals in recent weeks to discuss governments’ priorities and identify their red lines ahead of negotiations on the EU’s 2028–2034 budget.
The future budget was also discussed on Thursday at an informal meeting of EU affairs ministers in Dublin. Poland stressed that protecting its national allocation would remain its key priority.
"For us, the most important thing remains maintaining the national envelope. So we said that if there are to be any changes to the budget, they certainly cannot come at the expense of national envelopes," Deputy Foreign Minister Ignacy Niemczycki said after the meeting.
Under the European Commission’s proposal presented last July, Poland’s national allocation would amount to €123 billion.
The Irish presidency of the Council of the EU is expected to present its own version of the draft budget next month. According to unofficial information obtained by Polish Radio’s Beata Płomecka, the proposal is expected to include spending cuts, reflecting demands from the EU’s net contributor countries.
