President remains Poland's most trusted politician: survey

President Karol Nawrocki has maintained his position as Poland's most trusted politician, with 51 percent of respondents in a new survey expressing confidence in him.

Pollster CBOS said trust in the president decreased by 4 percentage points compared with a similar survey a month earlier.

At the same time, 36 percent of respondents said they did not trust Nawrocki, up by 3 percentage points from the previous month, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz came in second, with 44 percent of respondents saying they trusted him, and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski ranked third, with 43 percent.

Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski ranked fourth, with 40 percent expressing confidence in him.

Meanwhile, far-right lawmaker Grzegorz Braun, was the country's most distrusted politician, according to CBOS, with 60 percent of respondents saying they did not trust him.

Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of the main opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party, followed closely, with 59 percent expressing distrust.

Senior PiS politician Przemysław Czarnek ranked third in the distrust rankings, with 54 percent, CBOS reported.

The survey was carried out from August 20 to 30 on a sample of 935 respondents.
