Ground-based air defense systems and radar reconnaissance were returned to standard operational activities after the army activated them for a state of readiness, it added.

There was no violation of Polish airspace, the army said.

Earlier on Saturday, Poland scrambled military aircraft following a new wave of Russian strikes on Ukraine, the Operational Command of the Armed Forces said.

In line with established procedures, the Operational Command, acting through the Air Operations Centre – Air Component Command, activated the necessary forces and assets at its disposal, according to its post on X.

Ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems were also placed on alert.

The military said the measures were precautionary, aimed at securing and protecting Polish airspace, particularly in areas close to the regions affected by the Russian attacks.

The authorities said they were monitoring the situation closely and that the forces and assets under its command remained on standby for an immediate response.
