The fire broke out last Wednesday evening in Wola Krobowska, Grójec County, Mazowieckie province.
Minister-Coordinator of Special Services Tomasz Siemoniak said on Friday that, based on information from the security services, authorities had considered it highly likely that the fire was deliberately started.
Kierwiński said the authorities were still working to establish who was responsible. He added that the reasons for the incident had yet to be determined and that this was primarily a matter for prosecutors.
Kierwiński said most incidents of this type are inspired by Russian intelligence services, which he said have a “very wide range of possibilities.”
According to him, foreign nationals are often used to carry out such attacks, mainly Ukrainians and people from the Balkans.
He said contact with such individuals is often established through social media, including Telegram, and payments are made in cryptocurrency.
Asked about foiled attacks that could potentially threaten more people than the local community, Kierwiński said many people suspected of spying for Russia are being detained.
