Poland detains man suspected of spying for Russia

Poland’s security services say they have detained a man suspected of spying for Russia.

The man, identified only as Piotr Ś. under Polish privacy laws, has been charged with espionage and remanded in custody for three months, public broadcaster TVP reported on Monday.

He is suspected of working for Russia’s security services, according to the tvp.info website.

Officers have found firearms and ammunition in the suspect's apartment, TVP reported.

Stanisław Żaryn, spokesman for Poland’s security services chief, said the man was detained by the country's Internal Security Agency (ABW) in Warsaw on October 24.
