“President Andrzej Duda has appointed Development Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz to serve as a Deputy Prime Minister at the request of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki,” the Polish Prime Minister's Office said in a Twitter post.
The announcement comes after Jarosław Gowin, a prominent conservative politician, last week offered to quit his government job as a deputy prime minister as well as science and higher education minister amid a dispute over an upcoming presidential election.
He recommended Emilewicz as his choice to replace him as a deputy prime minister.
