The joint singing of Poland's national anthem was inaugurated in 2018 to commemorate the country's centenary of independence. This year, the collective performance took place at noon. The Anthem for the Independent campaign is an initiative of the "Niepodległa" (Independent) Office.

The anthem was sung in several hundred places in Poland and around the world, including: on Main Square in Krakow, Castle Square in Warsaw, in Toruń, as well as in New York, Rome, Toronto, Chicago, and Paris. Dąbrowski's Mazurka reverberated from Zakopane to Szczecin, according to officials.

In a recent social media post on X social media platform, Mateusz Ganizdowski, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Czech Republic, conveyed his sincere appreciation for the enchanting performance of the National Anthem by the students of Saint Hedwig Polish School in Prague, in commemoration of the 105th anniversary of Poland's restoration of independence.

Piotr Gliński, the Culture, and National Heritage Minister, has said the Poles like singing the national anthem together.

'This is a great opportunity for us to express our personal involvement in the affairs of our homeland, regardless of our age, profession, education, or place of residence. Interest in this initiative increases every year,' he emphasized.

The original lyrics were written by Józef Wybicki in Reggio Emilia, in Northern Italy, between 16 and 19 July 1797, two years after the Third Partition of Poland erased the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth from the map. Its initial purpose was to raise the morale of Jan Henryk Dąbrowski's Polish Legions that served with Napoleon Bonaparte in the Italian campaigns of the French Revolutionary Wars.
