Speaking in the lower house of parliament ahead of a vote of confidence, Tusk outlined a roadmap for his government for the remaining two and a half years of its term.

The plan had been developed in consultation with the leaders of the parties forming the ruling coalition, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

"The government reshuffle is not meant to be a shake-up, but a correction of a dysfunctional structure," Tusk told lawmakers, confirming upcoming changes as he appealed for a vote of confidence.

Tusk reaffirmed his commitment to the government’s agenda, saying his ruling Civic Coalition continued to enjoy strong public support, as reflected by the more than 10 million votes cast for its pro-European candidate, Rafał Trzaskowski, in the June 1 presidential runoff.

“There is no political earthquake, but let’s be honest: we face two and a half years of very hard, serious work under conditions that are unlikely to improve,” the prime minister told MPs.

Tusk also declared respect for the outcome of the election, while urging electoral oversight bodies to thoroughly investigate any potential irregularities in the voting process.

"Regardless of emotions or troubling reports about possible abuses or irregularities in voting or vote counting, we honour the result," he said.

Tusk's speech was followed by a parliamentary debate, with the confidence vote scheduled for later in the day.
