The meeting, called by President Andrzej Duda, will also address preparations for the upcoming NATO summit in The Hague, scheduled for June 24–25, state news agency PAP reported.
Duda announced plans to convene the council following a massive power failure in late April that disrupted electricity grids in Spain, Portugal and parts of France.
The outage paralysed transportation, grounded flights, halted rail services, and left people trapped in elevators and metro cars. Hospitals were forced to operate in emergency mode.
Duda described the blackout as a wake-up call for the region, underscoring the need to strengthen the resilience of power infrastructure.
Gen. Dariusz Łukowski, head of the Polish president's National Security Bureau (BBN), said Wednesday's meeting would focus on strategic energy projects and assess the preparedness of the national power system for crisis scenarios.
The National Security Council serves as an advisory body to the president and includes senior officials such as the Speakers of both houses of parliament, the prime minister, the defence, interior and foreign ministers, and other prominent politicians from both the government and opposition.
President-elect Karol Nawrocki is also expected to attend.
