The error affects some certificates confirming the completion of eighth grade, which marks the end of compulsory primary education in Poland.

According to the Ministry of Education, these diplomas were issued using an incorrect template, a problem first reported by secondary school principals during student admissions.

The ministry stressed that schools must use the official certificate designs as defined by a June 2023 regulation to prevent forgery and maintain validity.

Education Minister Barbara Nowacka said that minor errors on these certificates should not affect students’ chances during secondary school admissions.
