This research and development centre, overseen by the Ministry of National Defence, is responsible for implementing cutting-edge technologies within the Polish Armed Forces. It focuses on testing unmanned systems - including advanced drones - as well as other military equipment, composite technologies, and protection and support systems for military operations.
Tusk was briefed on the latest technological solutions crucial to national security and the ongoing modernisation of the armed forces.
Below is a live broadcast of the prime minister's remarks to the media.
Poland aims to lead with homegrown military technology and innovation
“I am deeply impressed by this short but very substantial briefing with the participation of generals and heads of military institutes,” said Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
“Today, wars are won by smarter forces - better equipped, more advanced technologically - those that know how to use the latest technologies,” he added.
According to Tusk, “an army that wants to win future conflicts and effectively defend its territory and the security of its citizens must be one that is technologically ahead of its competitors.”
Tusk emphasised that “from the Polish point of view, it is absolutely crucial that the hundreds of billions of zlotys we intend to spend on defence work to the maximum extent here in Poland.”
The prime minister stressed his desire for “the brilliant people who work here and in other such places in Poland - their ideas, talents, efforts, and dedication - to also serve civil goals, benefiting the Polish economy and Polish science.”
He also praised Polish experts, stating that when it comes to cybersecurity, “the team responsible for protecting Poles might be the best in the world - perhaps only the Americans can compete with us effectively.”
Showcasing Polish drone technology
After concluding his visit, Tusk shared a video on social media featuring a drone designed by Polish engineers.
Earlier, the Polish prime minister was presented with the latest military equipment currently in use by the Polish armed forces.
