Poland’s new Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek, who also serves as Prosecutor General, announced he would address the case of Robert Bąkiewicz, the far-right leader of the self-proclaimed Border Defense Movement, accused of publicly insulting uniformed officers of the Polish Border Guard.

The Szczecin prosecutor's office has recommended charging Robert Bąkiewicz with insulting officers of the Border Guard and Military Police while they were performing their official duties - an offense punishable by a fine, restriction of liberty, or up to one year in prison.

Bąkiewicz, a nationalist activist, has appeared at the Polish-German border as part of so-called "citizen patrols" and founded the self-styled Border Defense Movement, which claims to oppose mass migration.
