Poland is focused on securing NATO’s eastern flank and building infrastructure to support allied forces on its territory, Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Thursday, addressing questions about Warsaw's role in possible security guarantees for Ukraine.

"We are protecting NATO’s eastern flank and strengthening our capabilities, particularly in areas tied to security on Europe's eastern frontier,” Kosiniak-Kamysz told a news conference in the southern city of Tarnów.

"We are also providing infrastructure to support allied forces on our territory," he added. "We are not discussing any other kind of security involvement."

Kosiniak-Kamysz, who also serves as a deputy prime minister, told reporters that Poland has for months been part of the so-called "Coalition of the Willing," a group of nations backing Ukraine, while making clear it will not send its troops into the country.

Kosiniak-Kamysz welcomed what he called a major outcome from recent talks—openness from the United States to provide Ukraine with security guarantees.

"Without US guarantees, there will be no stable peace,” he said, adding that Washington's commitment, combined with strengthening Ukraine's military, "is a very serious step forward."

On Monday, US President Donald Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House, followed by talks with a group of European leaders.

Afterward, Trump phoned Russian President Vladimir Putin to begin arranging a Zelensky-Putin meeting, to be followed by a trilateral summit involving all three leaders, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Zelensky said after the White House talks that a crucial component of the planned security guarantees would be a USD 90 billion package of US-made weapons including fighter jets and air defence systems.
