Police said the debris was discovered on Sunday night in a cornfield in the village of Polatycze by Border Guard officers.

No injuries were reported and initial checks found no explosives.

“Examinations of the site and the wreckage are planned for today. Nothing indicates the presence of hazardous material,” police spokeswoman Barbara Salczyńska-Pyrchla said.

She added that no one was hurt.

According to the defense ministry’s spokesman Janusz Sejmej, the object fell about 300 meters from the Polish-Belarusian border.

Separately, on Saturday in the village of Majdan-Sielec, authorities found remains of a drone “bearing no military features,” most likely a smuggling drone, Sejmej said.

Initial on-site checks in Polatycze, including with a sniffer dog, ruled out explosives, police said.
